South Sydney Rabbitohs

Since 2013, iEDM has been delivering game day Event Project Management for the South Sydney District Rugby League Football Club Ltd as part of their regional NRL match played at Barlow Park, Cairns.

Initially a joint venture between the QLD State Government and the South Sydney Rabbitohs to drive domestic tourism to Cairns, the relocation of the Rabbitohs home game to Cairns has become an annual event.

The relocation to Cairns also helps drive the Rabbitohs Membership and is seen as a significant benefit to the football club.

Barlow Park itself is an athletics complex owned by the Cairns Regional Council hired by the Rabbitohs as a clean venue.  iEDM convert Barlow Park into a 17,000 pax venue capable of hosting a broadcast National Rugby League game to either Channel 9 or Foxtel.

The venue is overlayed with a 3,000 temporary seat grandstand and other temporary catering and patron amenities.

In addition to this iEDM was also responsible for:

  • Game Day Event Management;
  • Ushering;
  • Crowd Management;
  • Traffic Management;
  • Temporary reticulation of electrical and water requirements;
  • Workplace Health and Safety; and,
  • Emergency and Security Provisions.
