iEDM was engaged by V8 Supercars and the Homebush Motor Racing Authority (a NSW Government Agency) to deliver the inaugural 2009 V8 Supercar Event at Sydney Olympic Park.
With a tight design and construction timeframe and approximately $20 Million of capital infrastructure to deliver, this project was a logistical Mount Everest. The 2010 event won the Event of the Year Award at the 2010 Annual V8 Supercars Gala Awards Ceremony.
Closing down one of Australia’s largest event centres, the site of the 2000 Sydney Olympics, required a great deal of consultation and liaison with all stakeholders within the busy precinct.
Work for the initial event included:
iEDM, in consultation with V8 Supercars and five times V8 Championship winner, Mark Skaife, were tasked with the design and documentation of the circuit itself to FIA standards. These standards must meet the approval of the Australian governing body – Confederation of Australian Motor Sport.
iEDM is engaged as Engineering Project Manager for this event until the conclusion of 2016. We are proud of our association with this fantastic award winning event.
