Our specialist services include masterplanning, feasibility, technical engineering, specialist advisory and scope development for major events and sports projects.
Our specialist services include masterplanning, feasibility, technical engineering, specialist advisory and scope development for major events and sports projects.
Each project starts with a well thought out masterplan to define scope, engage stakeholders and encourage the project’s devlopment.
iEDM’s team of designers works with our project teams to create master plans for various sporting and major event projects. Our team are experienced in developing opportunities for revenue, identifying typical constraints and engaging stakeholders with a view to maximising the sustainability of a project.
We will often collaborate with key partners, such as architects, to maximise the opportunites during the masterplanning process and where a project involves a larger built form.
An accurate, considered and honest feasibility process is the key to any successful project.
Feasibility work can range from simple desktop studies, to preliminary designs, to complete engineering feasibility reports which inform high levels of Government spending. Our mix of resources with technical, design, project delivery and costing experience, allow iEDM to provide our clients with powerful feasibility and preliminary design information quickly and accurately.
Our ability to understand the project objectives at the start of the process allows us to add value through design and provide effective problem solving throughout the the feasibility.
Generally, the feasibility process will contain 2 parts. These are:
Establishing the context, the purpose and the objectives of an
event is an essential step to inform all actions throughout a project lifecycle.
Our advisory team has the capability to work with Clients to establish sound, tested event strategies for both new and existing events. We enjoy working with our clients and partners to establish the context of the event, its purpose and its objectives. We thrive on designing frameworks and solutions to achieve those objectives, with well thought out, costed, designed and feasible strategies.
iEDM specialise in converting existing spaces into exciting entertainment precincts through the design of temporary overlay and major event planning.
Temporary event overlay infrastructure can include grandstands, fencing, scaffold, marquees, electrical, plumbing, fit out, super screens, stages, trussing and sporting field of play.
iEDM’s design team have the capability and experience to deliver event overlay design and master planning services for all types of major event projects. We have experience in the design of motor sport events, multi-sport games, live sites, international Rugby League, major exhibitions, marathons, international swimming, concerts and festivals.
Our design process works hand-in-hand with our clients and integrates our skills across event strategy, stakeholder management, engineering, project delivery, cost estimating, crowd science, safety and constructability to ensure a well thought out, engaging experience for event patrons. This integration of the client with our entire team leads to a process that is able to test ideas and designs quickly to enable efficient information and decision making.
Major event projects, like all projects in the public domain, will involve a significant interface with external stakeholders.
These may include various levels of Government and individual departments, emergency services, residents, community groups, businesses, contractors or certain interest groups. Maintaining adaptability and flexibility in delivery is essential in being able to balance the objectives of the project with the requirements and desires of the stakeholder group.
Our team have extensive experience with the structured identification of stakeholders and their requirements, followed by the on-going management of these relationships. These requirements inform the team throughout the entire life-cycle of the project – from feasibility, to design, project management, construction management, operations and finally debriefing.
iEDM’s engineering team have the capability to provide technical civil and structural engineering services.
We have particular experience in enabling works projects where a major event requires permanent or legacy works to allow efficient multi-year construction or community improvements based on the major event or sports project.
We have experience delivering projects as small as footpaths in parklands, to full CBD renewal projects.
We can also work with key partners who specialise in different engineering disciplines within the sports sector and bring them into our integrated model. We have strong relationships across the sector in all disciplines.
The planning of crowd behaviour is an essential component of major event design.
Safe egress, un-inhibited crowd movement, good servicing and a view of the show are all aspects that affect a crowd’s experience and their inherent safety.
iEDM major event designers and project managers are trained in planning for large crowds. We can provide advice to Governments and Promoters who are looking to establish major event capacity or anticipate crowd behaviour. We provide an engineering approach to these models by applying science, software and our extensive experience to design practical solutions and real advice.
iEDM specialise in assisting clients, Councils and Governments in providing practical traffic and transport solutions for small and large events.
We have the capacity to provide design solutions or full end to end delivery of the traffic and transport infrastructure in coordination with stakeholders.
Our experience, paired with an engineering approach to design and risk management, enables iEDM to create efficient and practical solutions which meet all the stakeholder and authority requirements.
At the heart of any successful and sustainable event is effective, well considered planning which integrates design through to the successful delivery of the event.
iEDM has the experience and ability to produce all management plans and design documentation that will be required through the approval process but also guide the compliant delivery of the event. We also have the ability and expertise to lead the planning, approval and conditional compliance process to relieve the often-relentless pressure on clients. By producing all documentation, liaising with regulators and stakeholders, specialist coordination and consent review and auditing, iEDM allow clients to focus on the important aspects of delivering a great event.
