18 Jun 2018 Real Madrid World of Football

The Real Madrid World of Football is a state of the art, digital and physical interactive football exhibition which premiered at Melbourne Museum, in June 2018. The exhibition is due to travel the world, visiting 15 cities over 5 years. Real Madrid is one of the World’s most popular sporting teams and valuable sporting brands. The exhibition features memorabilia and exciting interactive experiences to engage visitors. iEDM was engaged by iEC Exhibitions! to design, procure and deliver a 1500 square metre temporary structure which resembled the Bernabau – the Real Madrid home stadium. After an exhaustive international tender for the procurement of the structure, it was determined that the best way forward was to deliver the first event locally, through Australian stock to establish the pros and cons of running a project in a temporary structure. iEDM was then commissioned to deliver the structure and event overlay for the first exhibition, which was to be held on the forecourt of Melbourne Museum, in front of the Royal Exhibition Building. The forecourt of the Melbourne Museum is a large suspended slab over the top of an underground car park. The size of the structure proposed was far greater than any previous structure built on the site. We were...

20 Dec 2017 Newcastle 500 Supercars

The inaugural Newcastle 500 was held in November 2017 and was hailed a major success for the Sport and the City. iEDM were engaged by Supercars Australia to provide all site identification, feasibility, design, engineering and project management services for the project, which included substantial civil / enabling works as well as the overlay and event planning. The Newcastle Event site was located on the edge of the CBD, encompassed many businesses, around 3,000 residents, 3 public beaches, parklands and various other public areas. Logistically, these projects require a very high level of planning, stakeholder communication and design. Initially, the civil works were only to include minimal works required to make the streets safe for Supercars racing. However, it was soon realised that the project could achieve a tremendous legacy to the area of Newcastle East if we could conduct significant streetscape and services upgrades into the area at the same time. The services in Newcastle East were dilapidated and some water mains close to 100 years old. The project was able to deliver upgrades to water, stormwater, electrical infrastructure, as well as new footpaths, roads, smart infrastructure and landscaping. iEDM had only 12 months to design, plan and deliver around $25M of major CBD...

02 Dec 2015 Blackmores Sydney Running Festival

In 2010, the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival underwent a massive change to the course for the Sydney Marathon which was brought about by sustained growth of the event and its need to create a better traffic flow through the city. The Marathon Event is held through the streets of inner Sydney and as such, closes a number of important routes through Australia's busiest centre. Pont3, the promoter of the event, in consultation with the RTA and the NSW Police designed a new course which enabled a number of key streets to remain open during the Marathon. However, in order to achieve the ultimate design, a bridge would need to be placed over Park St in the City Centre, from one side of Hyde Park to another. iEDM were approached for assistance in design and delivery of the bridge for the Marathon.Items of special consideration were: Dynamic loading and engineering capability of taking a specified number of runners through the span; Night time construction and traffic / pedestrian management and occupational health and safety through such a busy street; Sight lines for traffic lights and protection of bridge footings whilst the bridge was in place and the road operating with normal traffic; Stairs and block walls which were...

iEDM was engaged by V8 Supercars and the Homebush Motor Racing Authority (a NSW Government Agency) to deliver the inaugural 2009 V8 Supercar Event at Sydney Olympic Park. With a tight design and construction timeframe and approximately $20 Million of capital infrastructure to deliver, this project was a logistical Mount Everest. The 2010 event won the Event of the Year Award at the 2010 Annual V8 Supercars Gala Awards Ceremony.
