Case Study: iEDM Internships

Our Directors are passionate about the role that industry can play in the education of today's Students. We believe that integration in the workplace during study is essential to increase the employability of graduates.

Our Chairman, John Howe sits on the Advisory Boards to both Griffith University and the Study Gold Coast, Employability Programme.

"We have developed learned outcome strategies to ensure that Students receive a well-rounded experience, attaining skills that will greatly increase their  value to any organisation upon the completion of their degree." - John Howe, Chairman iEDM

After completing a 2016 iEDM Internship, including work on the Gold Coast 600, engineering student Brad Sullivan has just completed an eight week summer holiday contract with iEDM at the Clipsal 500 Adelaide prior to beginning his fourth year of study.During the internship, Brad was exposed to skills in quality assurance, procurement, client communication, engineering standards, contractor engagement and work health and safety.

The skills learnt during the internship has meant that Brad has been a valued asset at the Clipsal 500 Adelaide. Brad’s role in Adelaide was Structural Engineering Administrator, including Site Inspections, for the 340 odd temporary structures. This is a significant role working with our engineering team and involved detailed analysis of structures and engineering documentation, contractor instructions, project management, coordinating 3rd party certifiers and administration.

The role Brad performed in Adelaide was a newly formed position and the project team in Adelaide were ecstatic with the value that he created. Brad is now entering his 4th year of Engineering at Griffith University on the Gold Coast.“iEDM’s projects are moving so quickly, so in the space of one year I have completed work through both planning and delivery phases of projects.

Experiencing the projects come together like that has given me a great deal of confidence in the workplace, both in the office or on site.” - Brad Sullivan
