The F1 at Schools competition is a global competition, inspiring STEM students with a truly exciting project.

The challenge inspires students to use IT to learn about physics, aerodynamics, design, manufacture, branding, graphics, sponsorship, marketing, leadership/teamwork, media skills and financial strategy, and apply them in a practical, imaginative, competitive and exciting way.

The commitment to excellence which FORMULA 1 demonstrates is truly inspiring. From experience we know that even for senior staff in the iEDM team, working with the FORMULA 1 teams and management is really special. For this reason, and with iEDM’s activities across project management and motorsport engineering, this competition really connected with us.

We had the pleasure of sponsoring the efforts of a team of students from the Southport School, who were entering for the first time.

The boys have been professional and a pleasure to deal with for the entire process. From marketing meetings, progress reporting and technical updates, they excelled in their efforts. You can see it in the photos below.

Recently, they travelled to Melbourne to represent themselves and their school with great success.

It has been great to witness their growth in understanding all of the foundations of running a team (and a business). It's very exciting to think about how they can grow this experience for next year’s competition or any other venture they put their minds to.

Congratulations to the team Terminal Velocity - look forward to seeing how you go in 2023!
