The opportunity
iEDM is hiring a Project Commercial Manager to lead the commercial function on a new overlay and event delivery programme with a state government client. Gold Coast based, the role joins an established motorsport and major events delivery team.
The role has a defined arc: establish the commercial function, drive first-year delivery success through the project's inaugural event in early 2028, then transition to a commercial oversight footing while contributing as a project commercial manager to iEDM's broader project portfolio.
About iEDM
iEDM is a specialist event infrastructure and project management firm operating across Queensland, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia. iEDM delivers engineering, design and project management services on major events including Formula 1, Supercars and AFL Gather Round, along with project management services for capital sports infrastructure projects.
What you'll do
· Establish and maintain multi-dimensional cost reporting for the programme — FMS development, cost report structure, live Actual + Forecast Cost position.
· Prepare and present monthly commercial reporting to the client.
· Sequence and deliver procurement packages against the delivery programme; provide commercial review of RFT packs before market issue.
· Ownthe change control and variations register — working with Project Managers,Project Engineers and Contract Administrator end-to-end.
· Maintain the Value Management register and support VE cycles at key design milestones.
· Provide direction and development support to a project-based Contract Administrator.
· Establish the commercial setup in iEDM's FMS as a reusable template for future EPCM engagements.
What we're looking for
Required
· Demonstrated commercial management on programmes of comparable complexity — multi-package, multi-contractor, live delivery.
· Experience in procurement for Government clients.
· Multi-dimensional cost reporting experience — chart of accounts setup, forecast discipline, executive reporting.
· Variation management from technical assessment through cost, negotiation and approval.
· Contract administration under Australian construction and events contract forms.
· Experience with a structured cost management or commercial system.
Desirable
· EPCM or head contractor commercial models.
· Temporary or event infrastructure sector experience.
· Motorsport or major event delivery.
· Prior involvement in commercial system framework development.
Working arrangement
Gold Coast based, working alongside iEDM's established Queensland delivery team. Travel to site is expected at approximately monthly cadence, subject to programme needs.
Reports to the Regional Manager QLD (line); project reporting to the Project Director. Key working relationship with the Associate Director, Project Controls on commercial systems and portfolio commercial oversight.
Why this role
· End to end project role: set-up, deliver first-year success and set the project up for future success, then oversight and cross-project commercial responsibility.
· Direct engagement with senior leadership — Managing Director and Associate Director as immediate peers rather than distant reporting lines.
· Cross-project commercial exposure across iEDM's motorsport and major events portfolio.
· Meaningful systems ownership — the commercial setup on this programme becomes the reference template for the annual and future delivery of the project.
We're taking expressions of interest from Senior Leaders, Project Managers, Coordinators and Site Specialists across a range of roles including engineering, temporary infrastructure, signage, compliance and commercial.
Keen to be part of it? We'd love to hear from you.
You'll bring construction site management experience, strong WHS knowledge, and the ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. Experience on public realm, sporting, parks or golf course developments is highly regarded, along with a White Card and relevant trade or construction management qualifications.
If you want meaningful, high-stakes work with a team that takes its craft seriously, we'd like to hear from you.
This is a hands-on, site-based role. You'll be an active presence across the build, supporting project managers to keep contractors and suppliers on track, identifying safety risks before they become issues, and making sure infrastructure is installed, operational, and removed to schedule.
The pace is fast and the environment is dynamic. We need someone who works well without close supervision, stays composed under pressure, and gets things done.
