Adelaide 500 V8 Supercar Event

OVERVIEW

Over four days of motorsport and concerts, the 500 Adelaide is one of Australia’s largest annual events.

iEDM delivered approximately $17M of overlay infrastructure for this major South Australian Project, on behalf of the South Australian Tourism Commission. The event consists of over 1,500 facilities, 350 temporary structures, over 20,000sqm of marquee structure, 26km temporary fencing, 17,000 temporary seats, a world-class 3 storey temporary pit building, 3.2km of temporary circuit infrastructure, 137 generators or lighting towers, 26 big screens, 70 temporary portable buildings, 215 temporary amenities, 15,000sqm of carpet, a concert precinct, major merchandise and off-track entertainment precinct and various corporate entertainment platforms.

iEDM are Engineering Project Managers for the 500 Adelaide, integrating the following services:

  • Overlay and Engineering Design;
  • Procurement, Financial and Project Management of over $16M of Overlay Infrastructure;
  • Services, Structural, Civil Engineering;
  • Site and Construction Management;
  • Safety Management and Nominated Principal Contractor;
  • Stakeholder Management; and,
  • Event Project Feasibilities – Economic Impact, Project Design, Costing, Business Modelling

We are responsible for the delivery of the following temporary infrastructure / works:

  • Pit Building;
  • Circuit works – barriers, debris fence, kerbs, tyres, communications;
  • Traffic and Works on Roads;
  • Grandstands;
  • Corporate Facilities;
  • Major Shade Structures;
  • Electrical and Generation;
  • Mechanical HVAC;
  • Plumbing and Fire;
  • Super Screens;
  • Civil Works;
  • Furniture, TV’s and Hire Equipment;
  • Tents / Structures;
  • Provisioning for 3rd party suppliers eg Catering and Broadcast;
  • Gate Infrastructure;
  • Telecommunications;
  • Portable Buildings and Toilets; and,
  • Parks and Stakeholder Management.

Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit Upgrades

Since 2022, iEDM has been managing critical infrastructure upgrades at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit to meet MotoGP safety regulations. Following feedback from FIM after the 2022 event, major works were undertaken across the circuit, including at Turn 1, Turn 11/12, and the Pit Straight.

Each year, the Albert Park Lake precinct undergoes an extraordinary transformation as it prepares to host one of the most exhilarating motorsport races in the world. In 2023, the event surpassed all expectations, boasting the largest attendance in history and surpassing the record-breaking numbers of 2022, with an incredible 444,631 fans across the four days!
