Albert Park, FORMULA 1 Australian Grand Prix Circuit

OVERVIEW

iEDM was engaged in 2019 by the Australian Grand Prix to deliver the design and development of circuit upgrades to Albert Park.

There was a shared desire by the AGPC and Formula 1 to review the circuit design, with an intent to modernise the layout if possible with consideration of the new Formula 1 cars to be released in 2022.

The design development process was iterative and consultative in its approach, balancing the opinions of drivers, F1 technical staff, F1 Circuit designers Tilke GMBH with the reality of what is possible in an urban setting with existing stakeholders.

Within 8 months of our appointment, IEDM were able to deliver a complete design and obtain all approvals and consensus from the FIA, Motorsport Australia, Formula 1, AGPC, Parks Victoria and other Government stakeholders.

The project involves approximately $20M of civil infrastructure development to be delivered within the urban footprint of Albert Park. Construction has recently begun with works to be completed in 3 stages, prior to the March 2022 Event.

iEDM have driven this project in true partnership with AGPC and within the AGPC procurement model.

iEDM was engaged in 2019 by the Australian Grand Prix to deliver the design and development of circuit upgrades to Albert Park, the first upgrade in the venue's 25 year history.
