Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit Upgrades

OVERVIEW

Since 2022, iEDM has been managing critical infrastructure upgrades at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit to meet MotoGP safety regulations. Following feedback from FIM after the 2022 event, major works were undertaken across the circuit, including at Turn 1, Turn 11/12, and the Pit Straight.

2022 Key Highlights:
Turn 1 and Turn 11/12 Upgrades: Bulk excavations, gravel trap extensions, asphalt runoffs, and guardrail installations.
Pit Straight and Various Turns: Concrete verge extensions for increased safety.

2024 Key Highlights:
Building on the previous work, iEDM continued with kerb improvements, gravel trap, asphalt extensions, and debris fence installations.

Stats Across 2022-2024:

– Over 3,000 sqm of concrete poured
5,000 tonnes of gravel added
784m of concrete barriers and 636 tyre bundles installed
3,300 sqm of asphalt laid
25,000m³ of fill moved onsite

These upgrades ensure the circuit remains compliant and safe for future MotoGP events until 2027.

Each year, the Albert Park Lake precinct undergoes an extraordinary transformation as it prepares to host one of the most exhilarating motorsport races in the world. In 2023, the event surpassed all expectations, boasting the largest attendance in history and surpassing the record-breaking numbers of 2022, with an incredible 444,631 fans across the four days!
